Arms of Love
Vancouver Vineyard has partnered with Arms of Love children’s homes in Nicaragua for the past few years.
In 2002 Doug and Julie Effinger, members of VVC, moved to Nicaragua to serve full time with neglected and abused children.
Each year we have sent one or two short-term mission teams to assist with the work in Managua and in Jinotepe.
The vision of Arms of Love is to establish children's homes in developing countries based on a family model,
connect those homes with local churches in each country, and equip nationals to conduct the ministry. Arms of Love
establishes children's homes based on a family model, where resident "houseparents" care for children
with the assistance of other staff. They receive children who have been permanently separated from
their parents due to a combination of death, abandonment, and serious abuse. Arms of Love maximizes the impact it has
on the life of each child by focusing on the quality of care it provides rather than the number of children it serves.
