Passover Seder Dinners | April 22-30, 2024

The Seder dinner tells the story of God’s rescue of Israel, expanded by Jesus for his rescue of all people. To participate in this richly symbolic meal with other VVC members, sign up to join a Seder dinner happening in homes across Vancouver the week of April 22-30.

What is Passover and the seder dinner?

Passover is a Jewish festival of freedom, celebrating the deliverance of God's people from the oppression of the Egyptian Pharaoh. God gave his people a symbolic meal to mark the start of the Passover festival, the Seder dinner, to tell the story of his rescue of Israel.

Jesus used the Passover Seder dinner with his disciples to continue and expand the story to tell of his rescue of all people. The richness and depth of this symbolic meal for Christian believers cannot be overstated.

At Vancouver Vineyard, each year many of our members and leaders participate in Passover Seder dinners using a Haggadah guide that incorporates Jesus as the Messianic fulfillment of the prophecies and promises to the family of God that now includes Gentiles in addition to Jews.

Several VVC members are hosting Seder dinners in their homes during the week of Passover, April 22-30. You can sign up to join a Seder at the Welcome Center at church, or you can email us here to get connected with a dinner. These are collaborative, potluck-style dinners open to anyone.

Watch the video above for an overview of the dinner and how it works. You can also click the buttons below to view and download the Haggadah and resources for the Seder dinner. If you prefer, we have printed Haggadah booklets and lamb shank bones at the church available to borrow - click here to let us know and we’ll coordinate a pickup with you.

Our Haggadah provides a deeper introduction to the Seder meal along with the step-by-step script to guide you through the dinner. One or two people will lead, but all participate - so make sure everyone at the table has a copy. Your group will go through the symbolic Seder meal before enjoying the potluck-style Passover feast together.

This provides a quick overview of the supplies and ingredients you’ll need to prepare and/or buy for the Seder plate meal and the Passover feast afterward, along with recipes you can use if you choose.
