We are officially in the summer season, which means we'll be transitioning to the park in just about a month! For the month of August, we'll be gathering in Quarnberg Park instead of the Church building every Sunday, 10-11 AM. This will be a way for us to focus on connecting with God and each other in a creative way during the summer season in the beautiful outdoors of the PNW. There will be drinks, donuts, and fellowship for all who attend. Everyone is welcome, so we encourage you to bring family, friends, and neighbors!
P.S: We recommend bringing a lawn chair or blanket!
Frequently Asked Questions
who is church at the park for?
Everyone, of course! This includes the neighborhood and anyone who comes to the park that morning. We are not reserving the park for our church or trying to commandeer any space - we are gathering our church family in the park on August Sundays and would love to have any neighbors stop by and join us if they would like to.
where should i park my car?
Feel free to park in our church our Portal parking lots (and stop by Jebale in the Portal if you want a delicious chai or espresso drink!), or on any of the side streets alongside Quarnberg Park.
What can I expect?
When you arrive, there will be coffee, tea and treats available at a welcome table. We’ll begin our time shortly after 10am by singing a few songs of worship, then taking communion and praying together in smaller groups. Kids can play in the playground or park if a parent can keep an eye on them, or they can stay with parents. Our official end time is 11am, but feel free to linger for more prayer and connection as long as you’d like!
Should i bring anything?
Bring your own chair or blanket, if you can; we will have some chairs available onsite for anyone who doesn’t have one. We also encourage bringing your own coffee or tea, and snacks/water bottles for the kids.
How can I help?
We are so glad you asked!
One of the most important things every VVC member can do at the Park Sundays is to be on the lookout and ready to welcome visitors and new attendees — invite them to join your group or conversation, make a new friend! Church at the Park has always provided a great space for newer members to get to know each other and build relationships in the church family. Let’s be the church and actively seek ways to encourage, pray for, and bless one another.
We will need a few volunteers each Sunday with setup/teardown and hospitality. If you can help, please email us at hello@vancouvervineyard.com - thank you so much!
why do we do this every year?
VVC started meeting in the park every August several years ago, as a way to change up our usual routines of ‘doing church’ and connect with one another and God in new ways during the summer season. Since then it’s become a time our church looks forward to each year. It’s also a great way for those not familiar or comfortable with the traditional church building setting to join in and build relationships with a church family.
