August is Coming!
Each year on August Sundays we take church out of the building and move one block east to gather in Quarnberg Park (2101 E 13th St). We will gather to worship, open God's word, connect and pray, and share communion - all outside in the beauty of God's creation. It's a great time to invite friends, family and neighbors to an informal setting.

Frequently Asked Questions
who is church at the park for?
Everyone, of course! This includes the neighborhood and anyone who comes to the park that morning. We are not reserving the park for our church or trying to commandeer any space - we are simply gathering our church family in the park on August Sundays and would love to have any neighbors stopping by join us if they would like to.
What can I expect?
When you arrive, there will be coffee, tea and treats available at a welcome table. We’ll begin our time shortly after 10am by singing a few songs of worship all together, then we’ll break into small groups for connection and prayer. Kids can play in the playground or park if a parent can keep an eye on them, or they can stay with parents. Everyone is welcome to participate in a group, or connect with others not in a group, or go and receive prayer and encouragement from our prayer ministry group. Our official end time is 11am, but feel free to linger for more prayer and connection as long as you’d like!
Should i bring anything?
Bring your own chair or blanket, if you can; we will have some chairs available onsite for anyone who doesn’t have one. We also encourage bringing your own coffee or tea, and snacks/water bottles for the kids. The women’s ministry will be running a bake sale fundraiser two Sundays in August, so bring cash and an appetite those Sundays!
How can I help?
We are so glad you asked!
One of the most important things every VVC member can do at the Park Sundays is to be on the lookout and ready to welcome visitors and new attendees — invite them to join your group or conversation, make a new friend! Church at the Park has always provided a great space for newer members to get to know each other and build relationships in the church family. Let’s be the church and actively seek ways to encourage, pray for, and bless one another.
We will need a few volunteers each Sunday with setup/teardown and hospitality. If you can help, please email us at hello@vancouvervineyard.com - thank you so much!
why do we do this every year?
VVC started meeting in the park every August several years ago, as a way to change up our usual routines of ‘doing church’ and connect with one another and God in new ways. Since then it’s become a time our church looks forward to each year as a month of rest and refreshment, for our volunteers and leaders as well as our church family. It’s also a great way for those not familiar or comfortable with the traditional church building setting to join in and build relationships with a church family.
